Meet the Singers

Sophia Parker

Sophia Parker, 22, has performed in operas and musical theatre productions with professional and educational theatre companies throughout high school and college. Past productions include Philemon und Baucis (Mercury), La Finta Giardiniera (Serpetta), Beauty and the Beast (Belle), Into the Woods (The Witch), and Les Miserables (US Cosette). In addition to performing in stage productions, Sophia has worked as a music director for nonprofit educational theatre companies in the Seattle area, teaching high school students music and organizing part separations.
 

Justin Birchell

Justin Birchell’s recent solo engagements include bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with Harmonia Orchestra and Chorus, and baritone soloist in Finzi’s In Terra Pax with University of Washington Choirs. Notable opera roles include Figaro in UAA Opera’s The Marriage of Figaro, Dr. Falke and Herr Frank in Portland State University’s Die Fledermaus, Silvio in Opera Fairbanks’ I Pagliacci, and numerous roles through Opera UCLA, including creating the roles of Manfred in Janice Hamer’s Lost Childhood and Padre Antonio in Carla Lucero’s Juana, both world premieres. Justin was a 2020 winner of UCLA Philharmonia’s All-Stars Concerto Competition and a 2018 recipient of Anchorage Festival of Music’s Ted Stevens Young Alaskan Artist Award. Birchell holds a Masters in Voice Performance from UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music. He also remains active as a composer, choir director, ensemble singer, and educator; he is the Music Director of Wallingford United Methodist Church, a member of Choral Arts Northwest, and has been engaged as a pre-concert lecturer by the Seattle Symphony. Mallory McCollum

Having spent the last several years moving from coast to coast, Mallory is happy to return to her hometown of Seattle. She most recently was based in the greater Philadelphia area, where she was privileged to serve as both an educator and performer. Mallory holds a BM in Music Education with a credential to teach K-12 Band, Choral, Orchestral, and General music. She has sung the roles of Rose Maurant in Street Scene, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and most recently as Diana in Philemon und Bachis. She also frequently participates in NATS competitions, having won twice in the LA chapter, and has had the opportunity to work with Elena Mindina and Angel Blue in masterclasses. She has studied with Dr. Jeanne Robison and Robin Massie, and is currently studying with Thomas Harper while pursuing her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Washington. Mallory is grateful for the support of her family, and in her spare time can be found working with horses and children.
