Based on an ancient Chinese tale, Turandot is an epic masterpiece of revenge, power and love. The vengeful princess Turandot has decreed that she will marry only a royal suitor who can answer her three riddles and those that fail will lose their heads — and many have. The tartar prince Calaf, filled with the fire of heroes and bewitched by her beauty, is determined to try — and succeeds but not without tragedy. Giacomo Puccini’s final opera is filled with passion and soaring melodies. Sung in original Italian with English subtitles.
