Founded in 1963, Seattle Opera is one of the leading opera companies in the United States. The company is recognized internationally for the quality of its productions and is especially known for its acclaimed works in the Richard Wagner canon, creating an “international attraction” in its presentation of Wagner’s epic Ring, according to The New York Times.

The Metropolitan Opera is a vibrant home for the most creative and talented singers, conductors, composers, musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from around the world. The Met’s Live in HD movie-theater transmissions are seen on more than 2,000 screens in over 70 countries across the globe.

Opera on Tap was born in 2005 at Freddy’s Bar and Backroom in Brooklyn and incorporated in 2007 to promote opera as a viable, living, and progressive art form and to support the developing artists who continue to keep the art form alive. Performing in various casual venues in Seattle, OOT has grown into an innovative force on the classical music scene that has gained a loyal Seattle audience base.

Taking advantage of the rich and vibrant local classical music scene, Puget Sound Concert Opera (PSCO) takes pride in casting the best local performers to create high quality, yet affordable productions of the world’s greatest Operas. With our innovative concert opera format, PSCO’s productions allow audience members to see, hear and feel the music up close in intimate venues.

Pacific Northwest Opera, formerly Skagit Opera, presents fully staged professional opera in northwest Washington State, showcasing the substantial regional talent, supplemented with national and international artists. Pacific Northwest Opera presents its major productions in Mount Vernon at McIntyre Hall, an ideal venue for opera with superb acoustics and sightlines.

The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions program began in Minneapolis, St.Paul in 1954. The auditions are organized and produced by a network of over 1,500 volunteers in the 42 districts, which are grouped into 12 regions. The Northwest Region, one of the first to be established, is divided into four districts: Washington; Western Canada; Oregon; and Idaho/Montana.

The mission of the Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society has remained unchanged since its founding in 1954: Provide the highest quality musical theater productions at an affordable price. In addition to producing all thirteen of the Gilbert & Sullivan operas, we also produce works by other composers, as well as training and education for actors and students.

Tacoma’s own professional opera company, proudly serving the south Puget Sound region and the entire Pacific Northwest by offering traditional and non-traditional operatic productions in an intimate, atmospheric setting that allows audiences to experience opera in a uniquely personal way, touching the heart and stimulating the mind. With every production, Tacoma Opera strives to engage and move our audiences to the fullest, so that at the end of each performance, everyone goes home feeling uplifted and renewed.

Vashon Opera’s mission is to enrich our community through the creation of opera in intimate settings. The Vashon Opera was founded in November 2008 by a small collection of opera lovers who know opera can thrive on Vashon.

The mission of the Portland Opera is to inspire, challenge and uplift our audiences by creating productions of high artistic quality that celebrate the beauty and breadth of opera.
